Upon leaving Florida, our goal was to make it out of Texas in as few stops as possible. However, it's a long stretch, so while we skipped Alabama and Mississippi... we did make a stop in Louisiana. We picked Lakeside RV Resort by Rjourney in Livingston based on reviews and it didn't disappoint. The RV park surrounds a lake, had concrete pads with picnic tables, was well maintained, and had nice amenities including a big and fairly new playground, a pool, a volleyball court, laundry facilities, a game room, a lounge for adults, and kayak/paddleboard rentals to enjoy in the lake. While sites were a bit tight, we reserved one that backed up to the lake which gave us a nice open backyard to enjoy during our stay. We also were located next to one of the cottages they offer for rent which was mostly vacant so we didn't feel crowded at all.

We didn't have many activities planned for this stop so we did end up spending a lot time at the RV park. We took the opportunity to purchase bicycles for us all and enjoyed riding them on the bike path along the lake. Our littlest one (6 year old girl) decided she was ready to ride without training wheels and this was a great location to teach her to do so. She was off on her own by day two! Both our kids had a great time at this RV park. There were plenty other kids while we were there, so they soon made friends and spent their afternoons riding their bicycles together, playing at the playground, and even hunting for frogs - our city kids only observed the latter. lol
Campground did have a lot of full timers but they were located on the opposite side of the lake from the short rental sites. We felt very comfortable at this park and loved the water views with the occasional sighting of the ducks and swans that reside there.
Paul and I had not been to New Orleans so since it was close enough, we decided to make a day trip out of it to check it off our list. We waited a few days after Mardi Gras in order to skip the crowds but didn't account for what the aftermath of that would look like. We parked outside of the French Quarter and took the street car to Bourbon Street and pretty much walked throughout all the different sectors from there. While it was not super crowded, we were taken aback by how smelly and dirty it was. The picturesque buildings that we had seen in photographs and were looking forward to seeing, were overshadowed by the mess of it all. Jackson Square and it's beautiful trees served as a little oasis during our walk. It was the one place where we felt we could breathe fresh air, so we returned here upon purchasing ice cream around the corner. A stop at Cafe Beignet was also in order and probably the best part of our trip. :) Overall, a disappointing adventure but glad that we saw it for ourselves. We hope the terrible smell will be engraved in our kids brains and will serve as a deterrent during their college years. lol
We stayed a week at this location, which looking back, could've been shorter. However, it served as a time to relax following our previous stops which were packed with adventures. We slowed down. Enjoyed the sunsets by the lake, took care of a few things we needed to get done, including getting bicycles and installing a bicycle rack, and planned our next move.
